TARRANT GUNVILLE VILLAGE HALL CHAIRMAN’S REPORT 2015 - 2016
It is with sadness that we note the death on 13th October of Muriel Parker. Muriel was for many years secretary to our committee and also the WI representative. She will be greatly missed.
You will be aware from my previous report that I expected this current report to be my last. However, events have conspired against me and it has proved impossible to find a volunteer replacement. The search continues and I am, with some reluctance, prepared to stay in post pro-tem.
The year to August 2016 has proved relatively uneventful On the personnel front our two new members, Amy Dennis and Adelina Langdown, have been responsible for a number of highly successful new fund-raising activities, with more to come for the current year. We are losing our Treasurer at the end of the year, but I am delighted to welcome his replacement Geoff Gillett. A warm welcome also to Susie Percival, and to Jim Farquharson who is representing the Parish Council.
Finally, my thanks as ever to Janet Harding as booking secretary, Ani Meyrick for Arts Reach events and to Chris Tatham for his lawn maintenance skills.
With regard to house-keeping matters, the only significant costs have been repairs to the heating arrangements, which should make the system noticeably more efficient, and improvements to the front fence and bridge which are scheduled to be carried out as soon as DCC have completed works to the river bank. We are also having a smart meter fitted free of charge which will enable the electricity costs of each letting to be recorded.
Lastly but by no means least, I am happy to record a donation to Hall funds of £2000 from the estate of Major Roger Humphreys, which will help to maintain an already healthy financial position.
